Abstract
'The Service' draws on the canonincal and apocryphal material which make up the traditional Vita Mariae Virginis. It is told by three female voices—those of Anna (mother of the Virgin), Mary and Elizaebth—in counterpoint with a fourth, Jerusalem, related in the third person.Â
